History of ”Multiphase Systems: Models, Experiment, Applications“ Conferences

The first Russian conference on multiphase systems,

conducted by the Institute of Mechanics of the Ufa Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences was held from June 15 to June 17, 2000 and was dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Academician R.I. Nigmatulin.

The conference was held on the following topics:

  • Mechanics of multiphase flow and problems of hydrodynamic stability
  • Acoustics and methods for solving nonlinear equations
  • Sonoluminescence and shock waves
  • Technologies for the extraction, transportation and processing of oil and gas
  • Nuclear power and engineering

The conference was attended by about 200 scientists from the Russian Federation (Kazan, Ufa, Tyumen, Moscow, Yakutsk, Elektrogorsk, Vladivostok, Sterlitamak, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Birsk, Snezhinsk, Noyabrsk, St. Petersburg, Sergeev Posad, Nizhnevartovsk, Surgut) and abroad (Stockholm (Sweden), Fulton (USA), Hanoi (Vietnam), Mabato (South Africa), Coral Gables (USA), Manama (Bahrain), Patras (Greece), Paris (France), Göttingen (Germany), Beer Sheva (Israel), Oak Ridge (USA), Santa Barbara (USA), Zurich (Switzerland), Kyoto (Japan), Stavanger (Norway)).

The second Russian conference entitled ”Mechanics and chemical physics of continuous media“

was held from June 26 to 30, 2007 in the Birsk (Republic of Bashkortostan) and was dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Mavlyutov Institute of Mechanics founding, Ufa Scientific Center, Russian Academy of Sciences.

The conference purpose was to present the developed approaches and methods for solving problems, exchange research results on mechanics and chemical physics, organize lectures by leading scientists of the country, discussions and scientific communication

The work was organized into sections:

  • Continuum mechanics
  • Chemical physics of continuous media

Sessions of sections were devoted to the directions:

  • interaction of structural elements with working environments;
  • wave processes in multiphase media;
  • mathematical methods of gas dynamics and exact solutions;
  • physico-chemical mechanics of disperse systems: technological processes and environmental protection;
  • condensed medium;
  • kinetics of polymerization processes: mathematical models and data processing;
  • computational diagnostics;
  • micromechanics and microrobotics.

At the conference more than 100 reports were made. The following cities of the Russian Federation (Ufa, Novosibirsk, Kazan, Birsk, Neftekamsk, Sterlitamak, Tyumen, Yekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Moscow, Trekhgorny) and foreign countries (Fargo (USA)) were represented at the conference.

The third Russian Conference on Multiphase Systems,

conducted by the Institute of Mechanics of the Ufa Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences was held from June 21 to 25, 2010 and was timed to coincide with the 70th anniversary of Academician R.I. Nigmatulin. Starting from the third conference, it was decided to fix the name "Multiphase Systems" for conferences held by the Mavlyutov Institute of Mechanicsa USC RAS. The third conference was called "Multiphase systems: nature, human, society, technology."

The conference purpose was to present the developed approaches and methods for solving problems, exchange research results on the mechanics of multiphase systems; organization of lectures by leading scientists of the country, discussions and scientific communication; Summing up and determining the prospects for the development of science in the near future.

Conference topics:

  • Physico-chemical hydrodynamics of multiphase media.
  • Multiphase processes in the energy sector, industry and ecology.
  • Problems of interaction in economic and social systems.

The conference was attended by about 120 scientists from the Russian Federation (Kazan, Ufa, Tyumen, Moscow, Sterlitamak, Novosibirsk, Birsk, Snezhinsk) and foreign countries (Fargo (USA), Patras (Greece), Göttingen (Germany), Oak Ridge ( USA)).

11 lectures were given, 34 oral presentations and 67 poster presentations were presented.

The Fourth Russian Conference entitled ”Multiphase Systems“,

dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Mavlyutov Institute of Mechanics USC RAS was held from July 2 to 5, 2012 in Ufa (Republic of Bashkortostan).

The conference presented new theoretical and experimental results in the field of mechanics of multiphase media and micro- and nanoscale dynamics of disperse systems; dynamic interaction of structures with fluid and gas flows; tasks of computational mechanics. An important area of the conference was the discussion of mathematical modeling and the creation of the theoretical foundations of new technologies for the extraction, transportation, and processing of hydrocarbon raw materials, including the development of gas hydrate deposits.

Conference directions:

  • Mechanics of multiphase media.
  • Micro- and nanoscale dynamics of disperse systems.
  • Computational methods in mechanics.
  • Hydrodynamics of technological processes and environmental protection.
  • Interaction of designs with working environments.
  • Dynamics of the formation and decomposition of gas hydrates.

Within the framework of the conference, the round table was held on ”Environmental Specifics and the Functioning of Robotic Systems“

The conference was attended by about 100 scientists from the Russian Federation (Kazan, Ufa, Tyumen, Moscow, Sterlitamak, Novosibirsk, Birsk) and abroad (Stockholm (Sweden), Fargo (USA), Maryland (USA)).

23 lectures and 56 oral presentations were made.

The Fifth Russian Conference was held in the form of a school-seminar for young scientists entitled ”Multiphase Systems: Mechanics of Nanodispersed Systems“

October 10-12, 2013 in Ufa city (Republic of Bashkortostan).

As a part of the school of young scientists “Multiphase systems: mechanics of nanodispersed systems 2013”, lectures were given by leading scientists in the field of mechanics of multiphase media and micro- and nanoscale dynamics of dispersed systems; dynamic interaction of structures with fluid and gas flows; computational mechanics.

Leading scientists from Russia (Moscow, Kazan, Novosibirsk, Tyumen), as well as from the USA abroad (Maryland, North Dakota) acted as lecturers.

The work of the school-seminar took place in the following areas (sections):

  • Mechanics of multiphase media.
  • Micro- and nanoscale dynamics of disperse systems.
  • Computational methods in mechanics.
  • Technological processes hydrodynamics and environmental protection.
  • Interaction of constructions with working environments.
  • Robotic systems functioning taking into account the environment specifics.

The Sixth Russian Conference entitled ”Multiphase Systems: Models, Experiment, Applications“,

dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Mavlyutov Institute of Mechanics USC RAS, was held from June 26 to 30, 2017.

Location- Holiday Village "Pavlovka" (Republic of Bashkortostan).

The conference presented new theoretical and experimental results in the field of mechanics of multiphase media and micro- and nanoscale dynamics of disperse systems; dynamic interaction of structures with fluid and gas flows; tasks of computational mechanics. An important area of the conference was the discussion of mathematical modeling and the creation of the theoretical foundations for new extraction technologies, transportation and processing of hydrocarbon raw materials, including the development of gas hydrate deposits.

The conference was attended by about 120 scientists from the Russian Federation (Kazan, Ufa, Tyumen, Moscow, Sterlitamak, Novosibirsk, Birsk, St. Petersburg) and abroad (Dushanbe (Tajikistan)).

8 lectures, 25 oral and 94 poster presentations were made.
